The ‘Latest Way Forward’ Offer

We at the Professional Cabin Crew Council believe that the latest offer from BA is very reasonable. Here are our thoughts.

We at the Professional Cabin Crew Council believe that the latest offer from BA is very reasonable.  We are very pleased that BA have:

  • Stated that the Monthly Travel Payment will be at 2008 rates (the profit year).
  • Reduced the Pay Deal from 4 years to 2 years, which means if we are making profits in 2 years time we will be in a good position to negotiate.
  • Kept the Redeployment Agreement separate.

However, there is one critical fact that many cabin crew have failed to realise.  Unite are insisting on putting 184 crew back on our planes. We, the onboard crew have been working to the current crew levels for 6 months at LHR and 3 years at LGW, so why do we need these 184 crew back on?  It is Unite that want it, not us.

It is very important to note that to put 184 crew back on, we are going to have to pay a high price.

We have to lose language pay, telephone allowance, and other variable pay.

We have a freeze on our meal allowances.  Some crew may not be affected by this.

But putting 184 crew back on STARTS NEW FLEET IMMEDIATELY.

This is because the 184 new recruits will be on New Fleet contracts and we will have to lose several routes for that to happen.

Unite’s insistence on putting crew back on planes will cost us heavily, both financially and by initiating the immediate start of New Fleet.

If you want crew back on planes, then you are starting New Fleet Now.  If you don’t want this to happen then you need to enlist your support to the Professional Cabin Crew Council so that we can prevent Unite from further reckless damage to our futures.

If you want to prevent New Fleet happening, you must resign from Unite and enlist your support to the Professional Cabin Crew Council.
